What is Blue Schools Canada?

Blue Schools Canada, anchored by the All-Atlantic Blue Schools Network framework, is a community-driven movement connecting schools across Canada. Any school can become a Blue School! You can join as a teacher, or have your entire school join! The three key learning streams of Blue Schools are: Reconciliation Education, Global Citizenship Education, and Education for Sustainable Development. The goal of Blue Schools Canada is to empower students to become active contributors to a sustainable future. Blue Schools’ goal and learning streams are closely linked to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).

Blue Schools Canada offers various learning opportunities and support, including the Blue Schools Experiential Learning Grant. This grant gives schools the opportunity to engage in outdoor field studies, like excursions, community science activities, workshops, and much more!

How can I get involved?

Are you ready to make a splash as a Blue School? Here are activities you can do with your class:

Water testing with Water Rangers kits: Our Education testkit connects students with their local water bodies while contributing valuable data to create a shared understanding of water health.

Shoreline cleanup: You can participate in a shoreline cleanup to make a visible impact and teach youth how to care for our waterways. Find out more information here.

Wetland restoration planting: You can help restore vital ecosystems with wetland planting. This hands-on activity lets youth witness positive change and foster a love for nature! Check out this link for native plant seeds!
